Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has the chance to appease his fans as he takes on English Champions Chelsea in the final of the FA Cup this weekend. This is Arsenal’s only chance of a trophy after Manchester United took the Europa Cup last week. The Gunners will also be out to quell their fans’ anger after failing to make the top four in the English Premier League. Chelsea, on their part, are chasing a double after maintaining a great lead that culminated with a league victory earlier in the year.

This is the first time since 2002 that the two sides are meeting in the final of the FA Cup. The last time out, Ray Parlour and Freddie Ljungberg scored to give Arsenal a 2-0 victory. But this year, the Gunners have been shaky and put off their competition for a Champions League slot until the last minute, when they lost the only available chance to Liverpool, after Tottenham and Manchester City ran away with the others.

Willian and Pedro are both available for selection into Antonio Conte’s lineup as they both are in good form, but Pedro looks better poised to make the starting lineup. Eden Hazard and Diego Costa will most likely lead the team’s quest for goals and it is highly likely that they both will give a great account.

Antonio Conte had a successful campaign in the league, where he led the team to an unassailable lead by the last month of the season. At one point Tottenham Hotspur appeared like they might catch up but the Blues stood tall to defend their advantage to the title. In contrast Arsenal remained wobbly, especially towards the home stretch, at one point losing to such unlikely teams as Watford. The Gunners remained unsafe bets even in the last match, which they desperately needed to win, and which they won after a hard fight. They will, therefore, find Chelsea a tough opponent.

Conte Arsenal vs Chelsea Still, Arsenal will not be pushovers in the match, especially because they have been on the receiving end of mockery by other teams after failing to book a Champions League slot for the first time in 20 seasons. To keep their chances of winning high, the Gunners will most likely push for an early goal, forcing Chelsea to chase them from behind. This set up will ultimately result in the total number of goals being at least three by the end of the match.
