A Bridge too Far for the Gunners

After their shock home defeat by Watford on Tuesday evening, Arsenal find themselves nine points adrift of Premier League leaders Chelsea. Now they travel to Stamford Bridge knowing they have to win to breathe life into their fading title challenge. A defeat would surely end any hope of Wenger’s side becoming champions this season.

Match Result

Chelsea sit nine points clear at the top of the Premier League and it’s going to take an almighty slump in form to see them not win the title. They were held to a draw at Anfield on Tuesday, but would have won if Costa hadn’t missed that penalty. Games like Liverpool away and Arsenal at home are just games Chelsea will probably be happy at by avoiding defeat. Don’t let the opposing side close the gap is the order of the day.

Sanchez Arsenal Chelsea

The last 16 Chelsea league games have seen them win 14, draw with Liverpool and lose at Spurs. What was the game before this incredible run began? A 3-0 defeat at Arsenal on September 24 but a lot of water has flowed under the (Stamford) bridge since then. Chelsea look to be on another planet, particularly at home where they have won their last ten league and cup games.

Arsenal are nine points behind Chelsea and just have to get something from this game. Tuesday saw them lose 2-1 at home to Watford and their title hopes are hanging on a thread. Chelsea look to be the team that will get their scissors out and end those title hopes. Arsenal have only won one of their last four away league games and lost here last season. Another Chelsea home win looks the match result to go for and that’s available at .

Under/Over 2.5 Goals

Both teams have been scoring plenty of goals in recent weeks. 14 out of 23 Chelsea league games have had more than 2.5 goals scored and for Arsenal it’s 16 out of 23. At Stamford Bridge, nine out of 11 have seen at least three goals scored and it’s eight out of 11 in terms of Arsenal away league matches. I think you can work out what’s coming next. A bet on over 2.5 goals in this game does look a pretty good one and you can get .

Diego Costa Chelsea

First Goalscorer

Not the easiest of bets in this game as both sides have several players who regularly find the net. Chelsea are my tip for this game so let’s focus on their players for this bet. Diego Costa is obviously the first port of call but he’s only scored once this year and missed a penalty on Tuesday. Willian has been scoring some spectacular goals this season and every time Arsenal concede a free kick within shooting range, he’ll be in there like a shot. He scored a cracker against Brentford in the FA Cup last week, so have a go on him for first goalscorer and that’s and he’s .
