Round five in this season’s FA Cup will draw to a close with a tantalising capital clash on Monday night when West Ham United play host to Brentford at the London Stadium. The Hammers are 18th in the English top flight this term, while the Bees are in seventh place. Check out our match prediction below!
The Irons will take a break from their push to survive the drop in the EPL and have their sights set on getting beyond the fifth round of the FA Cup for the first time in a decade against their London rivals. This is also a chance for Nuno Espirito Santo to get his revenge, having lost to this opponent in his first home game in charge of the East London side back in October.
That result also marked Keith Andrews’ first away win as the Bees manager, and since then, the Irish tactician has defied expectations, with his side now on 44 points in the Prem and firmly in the race for European qualification. Who reaches the quarter-final? Let’s get into the key stats and try to find out!

West Ham - Brentford: Form Analysis
West Ham United’s journey to the fifth round of the FA Cup has been anything but straightforward, having needed extra time to get past both QPR (2-1) and Burton Albion (1-0).
The Hammers looked certain to suffer the drop in the first half of the season, but they have turned things around massively recently. After beating Fulham in the week, they are now level on 28 points with 17th-placed Forest.
With that result, the Irons have now taken 14 points from their last eight league games (W4 D2 L2). The only defeats they’ve conceded in any competition since January 6 were to Liverpool and Chelsea.
West Ham won their last FA Cup clash against this opponent 1-0 back in 2022-23!
However, since earning promotion to the Premier League in 2021, Brentford have won seven of their 10 games against West Ham across all competitions (D1 L2), including their last two encounters.
The Bees defeated giant-killers Macclesfield and Sheffield Wednesday in rounds three and four of this competition, respectively, and they maintained clean sheets in both of those matches.
The visitors have been incredible on the road since the turn of the year. After drawing against Bournemouth last week, Brentford are unbeaten on the road in their last five matches (W4 D1).

West Ham & Brentford Squad Analysis
One of the key contributors to West Ham’s resurgence of late is Crysensio Summerville, who netted the winner against Fulham last week. He has also been involved in all three of the team’s goals in this competition.
Given that top-flight survival remains the main goal, Santo may opt to give some of his regulars a rest here, which could see Adama Traore and Kyle Walker-Peters brought into the starting lineup.
Pablo Felipe is still struggling with a calf issue, and Lukasz Fabianksi is nursing a back problem. Alphonse Areola is therefore likely to start between the sticks for the hosts in this match.
Rico Henry is set for a spell on the sidelines for Brentford!
Henry sustained a hamstring injury last week against the Cherries, and Andrews confirmed he will not feature here. Michael Kayode and Kristoffer Ajer will likely occupy the full-back slots.
Igor Thiago is certainly a player to keep an eye on in this match. The Brazilian has notched up 19 goals in 30 games across all competitions this term and scored in the victory here back in October.
The visitors have several players on their injury list at present, including Fabio Carvalho, Antoni Milambo, Josh Dasilva and Aaron Hickey, but Reiss Nelson could make his return in this one.

Our West Ham vs Brentford Prediction
A couple of months ago, many would have written West Ham off in this contest, but the Hammers have experienced a significant upturn in results in recent weeks and are a side that very few want to face right now.
However, Brentford’s away form is difficult to ignore, as they have only lost one match on the road in 2026, which came at Stamford Bridge. The Bees won their last two matches against this opponent, but we feel this one will be a very close contest. Our West Ham vs Brentford prediction is BTTS.
West Ham vs Brentford Alternative Predictions
Over 2.5 goals
Six of West Ham’s last nine home games have ended with over 2.5 goals, while Brentford have only failed to score in two of their last nine away matches.
West Ham wins
West Ham have been performing very well in the last couple of months and are now on the cusp of moving out of the relegation zone in the Premier League. They have only lost two games since January 6, and those defeats were against Liverpool and Chelsea.
