The USA topped their first round group and with points carried forward to this second round, they are already top of their group. They are ahead of Brazil but both countries have six points. Their first second round group game is against Greece who are only a point behind them. America haven't got all their NBA superstars with them in China, that caused a few problems in the first group stage. They had good wins over the Czech Republic and Japan but so nearly lost to Turkey.
Greece are ranked eighth in the world, compared to the number one spot held by their opponents. They won the silver medal in the 2006 FIBA World Basketball Cup but were ninth in the last one held five years ago. The Greeks finished eighth in the 2017 EuroBasket tournament but have made good progess in China. They finished second behind Brazil in the first group stage. Greece beat Montenegro in their opening game but then lost by a single point to Brazil despite being ten points up at half time. Their final group game saw them defeat New Zealand by six points to clinch progression into this second stage. The USA won't win this by a street but they can get a win to make it through to the quarter finals.
