The final team from Pool D to qualify for the next round at the 2026 European Championship will be decided when Turkiye take on Latvia on Wednesday afternoon. Turkiye are the clear favourites in this match, and our prediction is that they will win this crucial encounter. 

Turkiye were expected to challenge for top spot in Pool D ahead of this competition, but their campaign has not been the most convincing, as they have lost three of their four matches so far. 

Their sole victory came against Switzerland (3-0) on Sunday. With Switzerland and Latvia both level on three points, the equation is simple: the winner of this match will secure the final qualification spot. 

Turkiye will fancy their chances of claiming that spot too, as they won their last two matches against this opponent 3-0 - both games were at the 2013 Golden European League. 

Meanwhile, Latvia kicked off their campaign with an against-the-odds victory over Romania, but they were unable to follow up, losing their next three games against Germany, France, and Switzerland. 

The defeat to Switzerland was particularly concerning as they only managed to score 66 points. Their underlying numbers were also poor, with 39% attack conversion and 40% positive reception. 

Latvia have won only three of their last 10 matches across all competitions.
