Manchester City were able to bounce back after a disappointing 2-1 away loss to rivals Manchester United with three wins on the bounce. Their last outing resulted in a 1-0 win over title-rivals Arsenal in the FA Cup fourth round which was also their second consecutive clean sheet. However, all three of City’s recent wins have come on their home field and the story has been a bit different for Guardiola’s men when they take their game on the road. The Citizens have looked mortal on their travels, losing twice and drawing twice in their nine away matches. The most striking thing is the drop in goal output as City are averaging an absurd 3.45 goals scored per league match at the Etihad compared to just 1.67 away. 

Tottenham Hotspur come into this fixture looking to make it three straight wins following their 3-0 victory away from home against Preston in the FA Cup. The victory was a much needed boost for Tottenham who are looking to build some momentum after previously suffering back-to-back defeats at the hands of rivals Arsenal and then Manchester City, the latter resulting in a 4-2 loss despite taking a 2-0 lead into half time. They’ll hope to avenge that loss here against a City team that they have surprisingly had some decent results against in the recent past. Tottenham have won two of their last three outings against the defending champions.
