Switzerland and Turkiye will face off at the 2026 European Championship on Sunday afternoon. Turkiye have made a very disappointing start to this campaign, which sees us eyeing the value on the underdogs here for our main prediction.
Switzerland were carrying good momentum into this competition, but they have yet to earn a point following a 3-0 defeat to France in their opener and a 3-1 loss to Romania on Friday.
The positives for Switzerland were that they looked good in the third set of their last match, winning it 25-13. They also had more total points than Romania (89-88) and two more blocks (12-10).
Switzerland are ranked 34th globally and have won six of their last 10 matches in all competitions. This is their first competitive encounter against Turkiye.
Meanwhile, Turkiye have been one of the disappointments of the competition so far. After losing as favourites to Germany in their opening match, they were then thrashed 3-0 by France on Saturday.
The Turks had a 44% attack efficiency and only managed 58 points in the defeat to France. Adis Lagumdzija was by far the team’s best player once again with 13 points, including one ace and one block.
Following that defeat, Turkiye dropped a spot in the world rankings to 11th and have now lost their last four matches across all competitions.
