Switzerland and Romania will face off in their second match in Pool D at the 2026 EuroVolley on Friday afternoon. The last three matches between these sides have gone the distance, which sees us leaning toward the points market for our main prediction in this one.
Switzerland faced a difficult assignment in their EuroVolley opener against France. They were unable to get on a run in that match and ended up losing 3-0 to the two-time Olympic champions.
Lars Migge led the team with 13 points, including nine kills, three aces and one block. He was the only player to finish in double digits, while Joel Hauck was good at the net, racking up four blocks.
Switzerland have now won seven of their last 10 matches across all competitions and three of their last four against their upcoming opponents.
Meanwhile, Romania were on the wrong side of one of the biggest shocks of the opening day, as they struggled to close out decisive moments and lost their opener 3-1 to Latvia (95-94).
Alexandru Rata was the team’s most productive player with 21 points, including 19 kills and two blocks. Cristian-Daniel Chitigoi finished with 17 points (14 kills, two aces, and one block).
Romania have won just four of their last 10 matches in all competitions, but they did win their last match against this opponent 3-2 in the 2022 European Championship qualifiers.

Our Switzerland vs Romania Prediction
Switzerland were handed one of the toughest opening-round opponents in this year’s EuroVolley, and while they struggled to keep up with France, they will fancy their chances of opening their account in this match.
However, Romania cannot be overlooked here, as they beat this opponent in the last encounter, and they also have home advantage here. We fancy this one could go the distance, as the last three matches between these sides have done. Our Switzerland vs Romania prediction is over 180.5 points.
