Sweden are the favorites to win Group G in the 2025 Women's World Handball Championships. They begin their campaign with a match against the Czech Republic with Brazil and Cuba also in this group. Read our match prediction below.
The Swedes finished fourth in the last world championships held two years ago. That equalled the best ever performance they had achieved in 2017. Last year saw them win an Olympic bronze medal for the second successive Games.
The top three countries in this preliminary round group will qualify for the next stage. Sweden have chosen their most experienced squad ever for these championships. They'll be looking for more goals from Natalie Hagman. The 34-year-old has scored 924 international goals. This could well prove to be her last World Championships and that applies to a few of the other Swedish players too.
The Czech Republic were quarter-finalists in the last World Championships. They failed to qualify for last year's Olympic Games. They are struggling for form and have lost each of their last five matches. Their top goalscorer is missing this tournament.
The Czechs have been beaten in their last five games against Sweden, most recently losing two friendlies in 2022.
