Roberto De Zerbi has his first match as the latest man in the hot seat at Tottenham. He does so with his new club in 18th place in the Premier League and Spurs travel to Sunderland who are 11th in the table. Time for our match prediction.
Friday was not a good evening for Tottenham and they didn't even play. West Ham United did and defeated Wolves 4-0 at home. That result dumped Spurs into the relegation zone The Lilywhites have to win this match to avoid ending the weekend in the bottom three. Spurs will be hoping that the arrival of Di Zerbi (formerly coach of Brighton and Hove Albion) will spark some life into their team.
Sunderland are still in with an outside chance of playing European football next season. At the start of the weekend, the Black Cats are only three points behind seventh and eighth places. They have been struggling for results in recent months, particularly at home. Sunderland had a good result in their last Premier League match and will hope that they can build on that and boost their European qualification hopes.

Sunderland - Tottenham: Form Analysis
Sunderland are 13 points above the relegation zone. The recent trend of all three promoted clubs being relegated back to the Championship is not going to happen this season. That is mainly due to the excellent start to the season that the Black Cats had.
They spent some time in the top five but recent months have been a struggle for them. Their last game did produce a good result with a 2-1 win at Newcastle United. That has breathed some life back into their hopes of European qualification.
Home form has seen them win seven league games this season but the last victory was in February when defeating Burnley 3-0. They have lost their last three home league fixtures, failing to score in two of them.
The reverse fixture with Spurs saw the two sides draw 1-1 in January.
Spurs are in the bottom three.
Spurs begin life under Roberto De Zerbi and already his side has slipped into the bottom three. They are two points from safety and dare not lose this game. The Lilywhites are yet to win a Premier League game this year and a form guide for the last 15 games has them bottom of the table.
They have only won one of ther last ten matches, a home win over Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. On the road, Spurs have won five away league games but lost the same number. Only one of their last eight away fixtures has been won.

Sunderland & Tottenham Squad Analysis
The Premier League returns after the international break. This is a game that is so important for both clubs but for different and surprising reasons. Pundits and fans would be expecting at this point of the season that Sunderland would be needing points to stay up and Spurs to qualify for Europe. However, the exact opposite is the situation here and it's a game both clubs are desperate to win.
Last season, Spurs only finished one place above the Premier League relegation zone, though 13 points clear. A major feature was their large injury list and that's also happened this term. The latest addition is Mohammed Kudus and he won't be playing this weekend.
Will the arrival of De Zerbi work for Spurs?
De Zerbi has had some time with his new players and there have been promising reports of how well training sessions have been going. If that is the case, now comes the difficult task of transferring that to the pitch and cutting down on the terrible defensive errors.
Sunderland started the season well but have faltered in the second half, especially when losing so many African players to international duty. There is still time to get their winning form back and at least finish in the top ten. That began with a win at Newcastle United.
Main goalkeeper Robin Roefs is fit for them and likely to regain his position between the sticks. The Black Cats will be missing Daniel Ballard and will also be without Bertrand Traore and Nilson Angulo.

Our Sunderland vs Tottenham Prediction
Can Tottenham get the win that will take them out of the relegation zone or will they end the weekend in even deeper trouble. Life under Igor Tudor was a disaster and their players looked so unhappy. The hope is this time their new coach will spark some life into them.
Sunderland have been struggling but probably would have preferred the international break not to have happened after that win at Newcastle. Their home league games have averaged 2,4 goals a game. Our main Sunderland v Tottenham prediction is less than 2.5 goals.
