The 2026 Australian Darts Masters kicks off with Ross Smith taking on Brody Klinge on Friday morning. Smudger suffered an early exit in New Zealand last week, which sees us leaning toward the value on his opponent here for our main prediction.
Ross Smith will be hoping to make more of an impact than he managed on his World Series debut last week when he was beaten in the opening round by Adam Leek 6-5.
Smudger has still had a solid season to this point, though, winning three titles, including the Players Championship 5 and 20, as well as the International Darts Open.
Smith has split his last 10 matches in all competitions, five wins and five defeats. This is his first competitive matchup against this opponent.
Meanwhile, Brody Klinge is back for a second successive year at the Australian Darts Masters. He was beaten 6-1 in this competition last year by Stephen Bunting in the opening round.
However, that scoreline did not tell the whole story, as Klinge recorded a very respectable 95.10 average, which was the highest of any of the eight Oceanic representatives in the first round.
Klinge has enjoyed a spectacular 2026 on the Australian Darts Association Tour, winning eight titles from the first 20 events. He is currently top of the ADA rankings.
