Romania vs Latvia Prediction & Betting Tips - Euro Volley

Pool D at the 2026 EuroVolley kicks off with Romania taking on Latvia in Cluj-Napoca on Wednesday afternoon. Latvia won the last match between these sides, and we’re leaning toward the value on the underdog here as our main prediction. 

Romania produced their best EuroVolley campaign in decades in the 2023 edition by finishing in seventh place before a disappointing 2025 World Championship where they lost all four group-stage games. 

Their 2026 season has been inconsistent. They finished 17th in the 2026 CEV European League in June-July, winning three and losing three of their six matches in the tournament. 

Romania have won four and lost six of their last 10 matches in all competitions, which included a 3-0 defeat to their upcoming opponent during the European League in June. 

Meanwhile, Latvia are returning to EuroVolley after missing the 2023 tournament. Their last appearance was in 2021, when they were eliminated by eventual champions Italy in the last 16.

Their 2026 European League campaign was considerably better than Romania’s, as they finished 13th overall. Rennars Pauls Janons starred in their victory over Romania in that competition with 17 points. 

Latvia have split their last 10 matches, five wins and five losses in all competitions. This is the third meeting between these sides, with the head-to-head split one win apiece.
