Two sides with contrasting ambitions for the rest of the La Liga season will clash this weekend when Real Madrid plays host to Getafe at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday evening. The hosts are currently third in La Liga with 68 points after 33 matches, just one point behind Atletico Madrid and a single win from guaranteeing their Champions League qualification for next season. Los Blancos won their last league match 2-1 over Osasuna, though their record over recent weeks has been far from impressive, with three wins and three losses in their last six league matches. However, Real Madrid have been very difficult to beat at home this season, having only lost once in 16 matches while recording four draws and 11 wins in that time. The hosts played out a fascinating 1-1 draw against Manchester City in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final in midweek, and with the second leg scheduled for next Wednesday, Carlo Ancelotti may be tempted to ring the changes in this one. In complete contrast to their opponents, Getafe are third-from-bottom in La Liga with 34 points, level with Valencia above them, though they have a worse goal difference of -12. Getafe pulled off a much-needed 1-0 win last weekend against Celta Vigo to bring an end to a six-match winless run that included four losses and two draws. Their away record this season doesn’t inspire much confidence either, with just two wins, five draws, and nine losses in 16 matches on the road. Getafe have failed to win any of their last 10 away league matches, losing seven and drawing three. Getafe have also failed to beat Madrid in their last two attempts, and with their opponents looking to secure their Champions League qualification here, the visitors are likely to struggle to take anything from the one.
