Poland will kick off their FIVB World Championships against Romania on Thursday at the Araneta Coliseum. The White and Reds and the Romanians are drawn alongside the Netherlands and Qatar in Pool B. Let’s get into the match prediction.
Poland enter the 2025 FIVB World Championships as the favourite to win the competition by most bookmakers, having finished in the top two in each of the last three editions of the tournament.
The Red and Whites qualified for the competition as winners of the 2023 European Championship. They are also one of the most successful nations, having won the World Championships three times.
Last month, the number-one seeds won the Nations League title, beating Italy 3-0 in the final, and now have a record of six wins and two defeats in their last eight matches.
Meanwhile, Romania were one of the dominant forces back in the 1960s, and will be featuring in their 11th World Championships this year, though this is only their first appearance since 1982.
They earned their place in this year’s tournament via the FIVB Rankings as of August 24, when they were one of the 15 highest-ranked teams that had not qualified by other means.
Romania finished fifth in the 2025 European League and have won five of their last six matches. However, they have never beaten their upcoming opponents.
