Poland and Nigeria will be facing off in an international friendly this Wednesday with both nations keen on scaling up the FIFA rankings. Poland are coming off two defeats to face a Nigerian side undefeated inside 90 minutes in 11 matches. This run has Nigeria as the favorites as captured in our prediction.
The two nations are set for a summer on the couch after failing to make it to the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico. This match at the PGE Narodowy Stadium in Warsaw is, therefore only a show of pride.
Poland are placed nine slots behind Nigeria in the world ranks and will also be looking to beat Nigeria for the first time in their second meeting. That will call for an improvement on their recent run as Nigeria return on Polish soil where they collected a 1-0 win in 2018. The Super Eagles are here fresh from winning the Unity Cup in London.

Poland - Nigeria: Form Analysis
Poland, like Nigeria, failed to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, but have some pride to restore here. They face the last African nation they played eight years ago and look to earn a measure of revenge following a 1-0 defeat back then.
The Poles are, however, not coming here in the best shape after suffering a 2-0 loss to Ukraine last time out. That defeat was their second straight after the fall to Sweden in March, which confirmed their World Cup disappointment. Across the last three years, the hosts haven’t lost three straight matches, and Jan Urban will hope to keep off the glaring, unwanted piece of history.
Poland have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last five games.
Nigeria will put up a brave face after missing two World Cup finals in a row. Having not lost in regular time in the last 11 matches (9W, 2D) should be a confidence boost for the African giants. The Super Eagles are not going to be easy opponents, and their hosts know it. The only time they faced off was in Poland as Nigeria claimed a win.
Now they are coming off back-to-back wins in England, where they beat Zimbabwe (2-0) and Jamaica (3-0). Here they face a stronger side before wrapping up their tour of Europe against Portugal. The only concern for Eric Chelle’s men will be the fact that since beating Poland in 2018, they’ve only won once in eight games against European opposition.

Poland & Nigeria Squad Analysis
Poland will have their most notable face, Robert Lewandowski, leading the line in what is considered one his last games for the national team. The veteran forward has 89 goals for his country and will definitely be looking to inch closer to a century.
He will hope for adequate supply from the flanks, which we expect to be operated by Karol Swiderski and Jakub Kinski. Swiderski carries good omen into this game. He has 14 international goals, and 10 of them came in home matches.
Osimhen, Lookman, and Taiwo Awoniyi are all out of the Nigeria squad for this match.
As Poland line up their best man forward, Nigeria will miss two of their notable players. Victor Osimhen is facing an uncertain future at club level in Turkey and has taken time off to sort the issue. He will thus miss not just this match, but also the next friendly, against Portugal.
Ademola Lookman is the other absentee here. The Atletico Madrid forward has fitness concerns, which for now keep him outside the team. There is, however, a brilliant star coming into the team, Millwall's Femi Azeez. He started his international career with two goals and an assist in the first two appearances and will surely gain favor from Eric Chelle.

Our Poland vs Nigeria Prediction
Poland aren’t coming into this match in their most confident form, even though recent matches in Warsaw have favored them. Two straight losses, with the latest being at home, in addition to missing the World Cup, leave some concern across the team.
At the same time, they face a Nigeria side enjoying good form and coming off back-to-back wins. Nigeria’s only previous meeting with Poland ended in a win, and they are on a fine run heading into this game. That is the reason our main prediction for Poland v Nigeria is that Nigeria wins.
Poland vs Nigeria Alternative Predictions
BTTS
Six times in their last 10 matches, Nigeria kept clean sheets, but in two of their last four, both teams scored. Here they will be facing off with a top opponent, who will be playing at home.
While Poland aren’t in their best shape, they’ve only failed to score once in the last 10 matches. The Poles have, however, only managed two clean sheets in the 10 games. Should we base our second prediction on these stats, we say BTTS.
