Ipswich Town take a weekend off from their Premier League relegation battle. They travel to Nottingham Forest in the fifth round of the 2024/25 FA Cup. Can the Tractor Boys cause an upset? Read our match prediction.
It's looking gloomy for Ipswich who are in the Premier League relegation zone. They won this trophy back in 1978 in the Bobby Robson glory days. This is their first time in the fifth round (the last 16) in 18 years and it's 32 since their last quarter-final appearance. The Tractor Boys look to be on their way back to the Championship and this FA Cup game may well be a welcome relief from the pressures of their relegation battle.
Nottingham Forest have reached this stage for the second season in a row. Their last quarter-final was in 2022 but you have to go back to 1959 for the second of their FA Cup triumphs, the other one being in the 19th century. They are going well in the Premier League and are strong on home soil.

Nottingham Forest - Ipswich Town: Form Analysis
Nottingham Forest are third in the Premier League but have gone three games without a win. Two away losses at Fulham and Newcastle were followed by a home 0-0 draw with Arsenal in midweek.
While it's looking extremely unlikely they will win the Premier League, the Reds must be fancying their chances in the FA Cup. This season has seen them beat Luton 2-0 at home and then require penalties to win at Exeter City.
Forest have gone eight games unbeaten at home with four clean sheets in their last six. Earlier this season, they beat Ipswich 1-0 at home.
Tough task for the Tractor Boys.
Ipswich Town have faced two lower league sides so far in this season's FA Cup. Bristol Rovers and Coventry City have been beaten but now they face a much tougher task. Midweek saw them lose 3-2 at Manchester United and that's seven goals conceded in their last two games.
Their two FA Cup wins are the only one's they have had in their last ten matches.

Squad rotation is therefore going to be the name of the game, especially for Forest who host Manchester City five days after this match. That means some of their younger players will again be given some time on the field of play.
Taiwo Awoniyi played and scored in the last round but didn't last the whole match due to sustaining a broken nose. He's recovered from that and could well play against Ipswich. Ramon Sosa, Ryan Yates, Danilo and Ibrahim Sangare are also likely to start this cup tie.
Matz Sels may well continue in goal as his understudy Carlos Miguel is injured, The other option is Wayne Hennesey but he hasn't played first team football in over a year. Chris Wood will be given a rest this weekend.
Ipswich are struggling for wins at present and they also have a large injury list to deal with. Omari Hutchinson and Christian Walton are definitely out of this game at the City Ground. There's likely to be a change in goal with Alex Palmer playing.
Julio Enciso is cup-tied and coming into the team could be Sammie Szmodics who scored in the last round.
