by Steve Ashfield in World Women's Handball Championship Predictions
Current European and Olympic champions Norway will be going all out to win these World Championships. They begin Preliminary Round Group H with a match against South Korea. Read our match prediction below.
Also in this group are Angola and Kazakhstan with the top three going into the Main Round. Norway have won this title on four previous occasions and five times they have won the silver medal. The last World Championships were held in 2023 and Norway were the losing finalists.
They are in excellent form and have won each of their last eight matches. Recent months have seen them win both the Euro EHF Cup and the Posten Cup. Their last loss was in March when they were beaten by the Netherlands.
South Korea finished 22nd in the 2023 World Handball Championships. That’s a massive drop from the glory days of 1995 when they won the title. Last year saw them finish second in the Asian Championships after winning the five previous tournaments.
Their most recent game was a 25-24 loss to Japan after leading in that match. That defeat ended a run of four straight wins. They lost to Norway in last year’s Olympics and before that in the 2023 World Championships.
We tip Norway to win on a -18.5 handicap.
