Nigeria can finish top of Group M if they can avoid defeat against China in this 17th-32nd classification group. The Nigerians carried four points over from their opening group stage after two losses and a win over South Korea. They made it two wins in a row when beating Ivory Coast in the first game of this group. Nigeria won the first quarter of that game by six points against their African rivals. However, Ivory Coast fought back in the second quarter and were only two points behind at half time. The second half was better for Nigeria as they put in a storming third quarter performance winning it by 15 points. After a level final quarter, they ran out 83-66 winners.

China are second in this group, also on six points but with an inferior points difference. They took on South Korea in their first group match and it proved to be a close contest. China were only three points up at half time and that margin was reduced to two with the final quarter to come but they held on for a four-point win. This is an important game for both countries with the winners on their way to the 2020 Olympics tournament. Nigeria have some momentum at present and can be backed to win on a -4.5 handicap.
