After last weekend's 4-0 loss at Manchester City, Newcastle United attempts to get back on track. They are seventh in the Premier League and on Sunday are home to third-placed Nottingham Forest. Can the Magpies get a home win? Here's our match prediction.
At the start of this latest series of matches, United are two points behind the top five and six adrift of their opponents. The Carabao Cup finalists are inconsistent at present with the last six league games producing three wins and the same number of defeats. As you'll read in the form guide section of this preview, home results are also a worry at present.
Nottingham Forest begin a run of games that sees them play three consecutive matches against sides in the top seven. The Reds lost at Fulham last weekend and like their opponents will be wanting to get back into winning ways. Their away form has produced some big wins but also some heavy defeats.

Newcastle - Nottingham Forest: Form Analysis
Newcastle United have lost three of their last four Premier League games. Last weekend saw them put in a disappointing performance away at the Etihad, losing to Manchester City 4-0. While the Magpies have won six out of 12 home league games, the last two have been lost.
Fourth meeting of the season.
Only one clean sheet has been kept in their last six league matches. This is the third time these two clubs have faced each other this season. Newcastle beat Forest away on penalties on their way to the Carabao Cup final and won 2-1 at Forest in the Premier League.
Nottingham Forest lost away at Fulham last weekend, their second successive away league loss. They have shown more than once this season that they can bounce back from defeats. Before those two losses, they had won their last four away league matches.

Newcastle & Nottingham Forest Squad Analysis
Newcastle United do not have any major injury worries ahead of this Premier League game against Nottingham Forest. Joelinton, Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascalles will still be missing for them this weekend.
Alexander Isak has played against Forest three times and scored in each match. However, the prolific striker has failed to score in the last two Newcastle games. United will be keen on him rediscovering his scoring form this weekend.
Conceding 11 goals in their last four league fixtures has to be a major concern for the Magpies. Six of those goals have come in their last two home games with Bournemouth putting four past them. Their defence needs to tighten up, especially with former player Chris Wood facing them.
Hudson-Odoi is fit for this game.
Nottingham Forest have Callum Hudson-Odoi fit for this match. He had to go off last weekend at Fulham but has recovered well. Forest are expected to play in the 4-2-3-1 formation that has served them well this season.
As well as Wood, the Reds will be hoping that Anthony Elanga and Morgan Gibbs-White can again prosper. Goalkeeper Matz Sels has kept ten Premier League clean sheets this season but will do well to keep another this weekend.

Our Newcastle vs Nottingham Forest Prediction
Both teams could do with a win on Sunday after disappointing results last weekend. Newcastle have lost three of their last four Premier League goals and have been conceding too many at the other end. Isak hasn't scored in their last two games which is a big worry.
Nottingham Forest continue to challenge for a Champions League place. They need to bounce back from a loss at Fulham (who also won at Newcastle recently) but have won seven away league games this season.
Our main Newcastle v Nottingham Forest prediction is a double chance bet on Nottingham Forest to win or draw.
