The Netherlands are unbeaten so far in the 2023 Women's World Cup and take on surprise qualifiers South Africa in the last 16. Four years ago the Netherlands reached the final of this competition and are on course to again go deep this year. South Africa are in the knockout stages for the first time in their history but may well find life tough against their opponents who are ranked 45 places above them.Limited Offer. Currently at Stake

Netherlands W - South Africa W: Form Analysis
The Netherlands surprisingly finished top of Group E with seven points from their three games. They began their campaign with a 1-0 win over Portugal and then took on the USA, who beat them in the 2019 Women's World Cup final. They nearly got revenge for that defeat, going ahead in the 17th minute but losing their lead in the second half. A 1-1 draw with the defending world champions was a good result though. They had a much easier final group game beatng Vietnam 7-0 with both Brugts and Roord scoring twice. That left them two points clear of the Americans who finished second in the group. The Netherlands are now unbeaten in their last five games with four victories and the draw with the USA. They last lost in April when being beaten 1-0 at home by Germany. Their last ten matches in the finals of this competition have produced eight wins with only the USA beating them.
South Africa are ranked 54th in the world but can expect to be in the top 50 after reaching the last 16 of this competition. This is only their second appearance in the finals of the Women'a World Cup. The other was four years ago when they lost all three of their games. Since then they have won the 2022 African Women Cup of Nations winning all six of their matches. That performance qualified them for these finals and they have put in a much better display than in 2019. Their opening match saw them take the lead against eventual group winners Sweden but end up losing 2-1. They then took on Argentina and looked to be getting their first win in the finals. This time they led 2-0 but ended up drawing 2-2. Finally that first win came when they got a shock 3-2 win over Italy scoring the winner in the 92nd minute. That was only their second win in their last seven games, the other being against Costa Rica last month.

Netherlands W & South Africa W Squad Analysis
The good news for the Netherlands is that Lineth Beerensteyn is expected to make her return to the side. Beerensteyn hasn't played in the last two matches due to injury. It's possible that the striker may start the match on the bench as the Netherlands may decide to field an unchanged starting line-up. South Africa are worried about the fitness of Refiloe Jane who was injured against Argentina. Back in the side may be Kholosa Biyana who missed the game against Italy due to suspension.
