Monaco’s journey in Europe started on a sour note, but they have the chance to bounce back in domestic action. Returning to Ligue 1 action, Monaco will host Metz, looking to build on their strong start in the competition. We have a prediction for this match below.

Monaco’s recent rise was given a reality check; out in Belgium, they were thrashed 4-1 by Club Brugge in the Champions League. That called for more scrutiny on their back line, and the same will be the focus here, as they have no clean sheet in Ligue 1.

They do have three wins in four league matches, though, and can put their focus on outscoring their opponents as a strategy.

Metz came very close to winning their first game of the season last time out. At 1-0 up against Angers, Habib Diallo missed a penalty, and then they conceded one in stoppage time, which Angers converted.

A very frustrating day at home; the match ended 1-1 and left Metz rock bottom. This was another instance of Metz’s inability to close out a match, the same having occurred in the 3-2 loss to Paris FC earlier.

In all this, however, there is a silver lining; Metz have been able to score in back-to-back matches, and they will be targeting a shock result here.
