Monaco - Lyon: Form Analysis
Monaco are fighting for one of the two available automatic Champions League places. At the moment, they occupy one of those slots, but just with a one-point advantage.
It is a tight race for the same, with only a point separating them from the sixth-placed Strasbourg. A win here will, at least, eliminate Lyon from contention for that prestigious slot.
They geared up for this key game with a 3-1 away win over Saint-Etienne, taking their unbeaten streak to four matches. Two of those outings ended in draws, but the other win was a crucial one, against second-placed Marseille.
Monaco have 11 wins and only two losses at home in Ligue 1 this season.
Six teams are involved in the battle for two automatic Champions League slots. Lyon are the lowest ranked among the six, and only a win here will keep them in contention. The recent weeks haven't been very friendly for the visitors.
They slumped to a 2-1 loss at home to Lens in the last game, making it three defeats in four from all competitions. It might also hurt Lyon that their defence hasn’t been up to scratch.
Paulo Fonseca’s side has managed just one clean sheet in 10 league matches, conceding more than once in half of those. While they’ve struggled in defence, Lyon have done well in attack, scoring in each of the last 14 league games.

Monaco’s Biereth has scored three Ligue 1 hat tricks since his January arrival.
Alexandre Lacazette will be back from suspension to boost Lyon’s charge in this game. The former Arsenal forward has seven career goals against Monaco and will be confident coming here.
A well-rested Lacazette will target adding to his 13 Ligue 1 goals and two assists at the moment. The Frenchman is on his third season since returning from England, and he has 59 league goals in that period.
As Lyon welcome back their talisman, they will be without Ernest Nuamah in defence. The Ghanaian has a cruciate ligament injury and is out for the season.

Our Monaco vs Lyon Prediction
While this is an important match for these two sides, Lyon will be under more pressure. A loss here would officially end their chances at automatic Champions League qualification. Adding to their pressure is the fact that they’ve suffered six defeats in 11 matches against teams currently in the top-six.
One of those losses was against Monaco, who come into this match with the better run. The hosts haven't lost a home league game in the last seven outings, winning six. Our prediction for Monaco v Lyon, therefore, is: Monaco wins the match.

Alexandre Lacazette to score
Though Lyon come into this game as the underdogs, we can’t fail to acknowledge the fact that they are good in attack. This aspect will be strengthened by Alexandre Lacazette’s return from suspension.
A well-rested Lacazette can be a nightmare for Monaco’s defenders. The striker has seven goals against Monaco, and we will, in our second prediction, back him to score.
