After a poor season in Ligue 1, Metz are back in Ligue 2, where they kick it off against Guingamp. Metz had a good preseason and will be targeting a strong start. Our prediction doesn’t favor Guingamp, who are winless in this fixture in the last three.
Metz found the top flight tough, as they finished the league campaign with just three wins. Theirs was the worst run, and they ended up at the bottom of the standings with 17 points, having lost 23 times.
They had a better preseason, though, winning five times and losing twice in eight outings. Metz won their last two meetings with Guingamp and will be confident of starting well in the season.
Guingamp have only managed one win in their last five meetings with Metz. It isn’t really promising for them after failing to score in the last two encounters with this opponent.
What makes it worse is their poor run in preseason, the visitors having failed to win any of their four friendly matches. Three of them ended in defeat, and they could only draw 3-3 with Brest in the final one.
