Marseille vs PSG Prediction & Betting Tips - Ligue 1

A top-of-the-table clash is on the cards in the French Ligue 1 when Marseille welcomes PSG at the Stade Velodrome on Sunday. These teams are separated on the standings by five points; PSG top on 57 points and Marseille second with 52. This clash will thus not only be about bragging rights. This is the second meeting in February between these two teams. Marseille will be hoping the outcome is the same as three weeks ago when they secured a 2-1 win at the Velodrome to advance in the Coupe de France. Igor Tudor’s men have enjoyed their time since then and come into this match on a three-game winning streak. They came from behind to beat Toulouse 3-2 away from home last time out. At home however, they have struggled in recent outings and have not won in their last two in the league. They were shocked 3-1 by Nice and before that had come from behind to draw 1-1 with Monaco. Three of their four losses this season have come at the Velodrome and this should give PSG confidence going into this clash. Alexis Sanchez remains Marseille’s danger man despite not being among the goals last weekend. The attacker has scored 11 goals in total for Les Phocéens with nine coming in the league and will again be looked upon in attack. Rather surprisingly is that defenders Nuno Tavares (6) and Chancel Mbemba (5) trail Sanchez in the scorers’ chart. The two were among the scorers against Toulouse. Sadly for Mbemba, he will have to miss this crucial clash due to suspension. The other players expected to be out are Samuel Gigot and Amine Harit due to injury.

PSG have looked a shell of themselves in recent weeks and come to this game having won just one of their last four matches across all competitions. The Parisians were heading for a fourth defeat in a row last time out against Lille before Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi scored two late goals to secure a 4-3 victory. The two will again be expected to be the catalysts towards a win on Sunday. With Marseille not being formidable at home in recent weeks, PSG have also struggled on their travels and have lost three of their last four away matches in the league and have conceded three goals in two of those losses. A win here could keep underfire manager Christophe Galtier on the job a while longer. PSG could be without Neymar for this clash due to injury. The winger was subbed off in the win over Toulouse having injured his ankle. This is a big blow to PSG as the Brazilian has scored 13 goals this term and together with Messi and Mbappe, have all scored a combined 39 of PSG’s 59 goals in the division.
