Marseille playing host to Olympique Lyon will bring the curtain down to an exciting round of matches in Ligue 1. The two giants of French football start the week separated by seven points; Marseille in second spot and Lyon sixth. Read on for our prediction of the match. 

Marseille will be at home and hoping to reignite their title challenge which took a heavy dent last week. A 2-0 defeat at the hands of Nice left Les Phoceens winless in three matches. 

It was also a blow to their title chase as they are now 10 points behind league leaders PSG.

They are set to face a Lyon side that has also been out of sorts lately. The visitors will arrive for this game straight off a 1-1 draw with Ludogorets in the Europa League. 

Corentin Toliso gave Lyon the lead in that game but Dinis Almeida leveled matters for the visiting team. Jorge Maciel’s charges are now seeking a first win in seven matches.

From the said six, each of the last five ended in draws, then they lost the first. Also, in the said six matches, both teams scored in four. Four defeats in five meetings with Marseille means Lyon have been dominated in this fixture.
