RFS are staring at an early exit from the Champions League heading into their second qualifying round return leg match against Malmo. The Latvian side trails 4-1 from the first leg.
They are faced with the need to win by three unanswered goals and below is our prediction. The hosts, comfortably in the lead, must already be planning for the next stage, where they will face Drita or FC Copenhagen.
Malmo followed up on their first leg win with an extension of their good record by beating Brommapojkarna 3-2 in their domestic league. That was their sixth straight win across all competitions.
They are, however, struggling defensively, keeping just two clean sheets in the last eight matches.
RFS come into this game with huge expectations and a big deficit to overturn. They will be looking to cash in on Malmo’s defensive struggles, but they have to smooth their own rough patches.
The fact that they will be chasing the tie means Malmo can find spaces behind them, yet the last thing the visitors want is to concede in the return leg.
Their recent defensive performances in Europe haven't really been encouraging, especially against teams of Malmo’s caliber.
On a more positive side, in the last seven Champions League matches, RFS failed to score just once. On that occasion they were thrashed 4-0 by Bodo/Glimt.
