Reims will be looking to claw further away from the French Ligue 1 relegation zone when they travel to Lyon. After 20 matches, they are 13th, trailing seventh-placed Lyon by eight points. Read on for our prediction.
Lyon are in desperate need of a win. Though they have proven hard to beat, Les Gones haven’t won in seven games. This unimpressive run forced a change in management with Paulo Fonseca taking over.
The Portuguese tactician took charge of his first game last weekend as Lyon fell 3-2 away to Marseille. Lyon were on a four-match unbeaten run before the loss to the title chasers.
The hosts have won eight games and drawn a further six to accumulate 30 points.
Reims have also recently made a coaching change. Samba Diawara who had been replaced at the start of the season by Luka Elsner is back.
The Malian took over earlier in the week and made an immediate impact, guiding Reims to the French Cup quarter-finals in midweek. Les Rouges et Blancs were, however, far from impressive against fifth-tier side Bourgoin Jallieu whom they eliminated on penalties after a 0-0 draw.
Reims, who sit just four points from the relegation zone, haven’t won in the league since November. They have drawn five of the nine matches in this period with one of those stalemates being against Lyon.
