Lyon will look to return to winning ways when they host Auxerre on the back of a shock loss in Europe. On Sunday, Les Gones’ welcome l’AJA who are seeking a win that could lift them into the top half. Below we have a preview and prediction for the match.
The hosts come into the game looking to restart another winning run after their 1-0 loss to Besiktas in the Europa League on Thursday.
Before the defeat, Lyon had won five straight matches. At least they still have a winning run to extend in Ligue 1. The hosts go into this game seeking their fourth straight win in the league.
Auxerre’s return to Ligue 1 hasn’t been straightforward but they are the best performing among the three promoted sides. The nine points they’ve been able to bag so far came from wins against Nice, Brest and most recently Reims.
Auxerre were particularly rampant against Reims as they brought their six-game undefeated run to a halt. They even missed a penalty in the 2-1 home win.
Now they have the chance to win back-to-back league matches for the first time since April 2023. Auxerre have, however, lost all their last four away league matches and are winless in seven league games on the road.
