Luxembourg could look to trouble the Republic of Ireland in front of their home fans as the teams clash in an international friendly on Tuesday. This match at the Luxembourg Stadium between the Red Lions and the visiting Boys in Green comes with our prediction of both teams scoring goals.
Luxembourg will kickstart their World Cup qualifiers in UEFA Group A in September, along with Germany, Slovakia, and Northern Ireland. Ireland will look to navigate through Group F, where Portugal, Hungary, and Armenia are the other teams.
A narrow 1-0 loss to Slovenia on Friday meant Luxembourg lost their two recent friendlies. These defeats marred the positives of a 1-0 win over Sweden back in March, in a friendly at this venue.
Despite these poor results, Luxembourg have been a team on the rise, winning one and drawing three of their last seven matches in all competitions and friendlies. That included finishing last in Group C3 of the Nations League, leaving their hopes on relegation playoffs against Malta.
Ireland won 4-2 on aggregate against Bulgaria to avoid relegation from Nations League B and followed it up with a 1-1 draw in a friendly against Senegal on Friday.
The Boys in Green are on the up, having won four of their last seven matches across friendlies and competitive fixtures (D1, L2).

Our Luxembourg vs Ireland Prediction
Luxembourg may still be one of the outsiders in Europe, but recent improvements make them a tricky opponent. A 1-0 win against Sweden in a friendly fixture in March is an indicator of how much they have improved recently. Ireland are looking for some consistency themselves, especially after avoiding relegation in UEFA Nations League B/C with a clinical win over Bulgaria. They may still be carrying some defensive concerns, which is reflected in their low tally of clean sheets, and that’s why our Luxembourg vs Ireland prediction is both teams to score.
