The second half of day one at the 2025 World Series of Darts finals will kick off with a blockbuster matchup between Luke Humphries and James Wade. The winner of this clash between Cool Hand Luke and the Machine will face either Kevin Doets or Jermaine Wattimena in round two. Let’s get into the match prediction.
Luke Humphries is set to participate in his third straight WSOD finals and will be hoping to win the competition for the first time, having reached the quarters and semis in the last two editions.
Cool Hand Luke has had a solid year so far, winning the 2025 Premier League Darts, 2025 US Darts Masters and 2025 Czech Darts Open titles. He was a beaten finalist at the New Zealand Masters last month.
Humphries was beaten by Dom Taylor in the first round of the Players Championship 27 on Wednesday, but that was just his third defeat in his last 12 matches across all competitions.
Meanwhile, James Wade is no stranger to the World Series, having made four final appearances, while he also won the 2018 WSOD Finals 11-10 against Michael Smith.
The Machine won the PC19 in June and reached the final of the World Matchplay this year. He has also made semi-final appearances at four European Tour events in 2025.
Notably, Wade’s last match was against Humphries at ET11 last week, where he was beaten 7-1 by the World number one. He is now 6-4 in his last 10 matches.
