France are ranked third in the world and won the bronze medal at the last FIBA World Basketball Cup. They had a disappointing 2017 EuroBasket tournament two years ago, finishing down in 12th place. They have been in good form in this world cup though and won all three of their first round matches. France had a narrow four point win over Germany but then beat Jordan and the Dominican Republic by 39 and 34 points respectively.

Lithuania are only ranked three places below France and were fourth in the last World Cup. They didn't do so well in the 2017 EuroBasket tournament finishing ninth. They had a tough group to get out of in this tournament but easily disposed of Senegal and Canada. Their final group game was against Australia and they lost that one by 15 points so that will hit their confidence. First round points are carried through to this second stage. That means France are already top and a point ahead of Lithuania. They look to be in better form and can get a win over Lithuania to just about take them intot the knock-out stages.
