This Ningbo Open quarter-final clash will see World No. 219 Lin Zhu clash with seventh seed and World No. 19 Diana Shnaider on Friday. Can the Chinese star upset her Russian counterpart to reach the semi-finals? Here is our prediction for the match. 

Off her setback in Wuhan, Lin Zhu has had a terrific Ningbo Open campaign. The former World No. 31 stunned Emma Raducanu – ranked 190 places above her – in the first round, rallying from a set down to win in three sets. 

This was just a tip of the iceberg as she saved her best performance for a round-of-16 matchup against top seed Mira Andreeva on Wednesday. Again, she came from a set down to stun the World No. 6 4-6, 6-3, 6-2. She has won three of her last five matches and boasts an impressive 7-3 record in her last 10 appearances on hard courts. 

Diana Shnaider ended consecutive first-round exits in Beijing and Wuhan with a straight-set victory over World No. 145 Xiyu Wang in the round of 32. The five-time WTA singles champion saw off Wang in 114 minutes, winning 7-5, 6-3. 

She followed that up with a comeback victory against 20th-ranked Karolina Muchova in the round of 16 on Wednesday. However, the former World No. 11 has lost three of his last five matches.
