Monaco’s journey in Europe is over; they return to domestic action with a big game, away to Lille in Ligue 1. These two sides sit bumper to bumper in the league standings, Lille in fifth and Monaco in fourth. Below we have a prediction for the match.

Lille recovered from their two-game winless run with an away victory at Rennes. Late goals from Chuba Akpom and Nabil Bentaleb lifted Lille to a 2-0 win.

That win took Lille to within two points of third placed Nice and they’ll seek a win here to boost their top three chances. Their last league game at home was a shock defeat by struggling Le Havre and Lille will hope to avoid such slips.

Monaco haven't lost to Lille in their last two meetings but they haven't won at Lille in their last two visits either. Coming into this game, Monaco played to an entertaining 3-3 draw with Benfica in the Champions League.

In a game they needed a win, that ended in heartbreak. As they are 18 points behind the league leaders, Monaco aren’t considered Ligue 1 title challengers.

Finishing in the top three is as good a prize though, with the assurance of a Champions League spot. While they consider that something worth playing for, Monaco are winless in seven away matches, losing four.
