Muchova is through to her third final of the year. The Czech star is having one of her best campaigns on tour and will be keen to win her second title.
Muchova, this year’s Doha champion, outlasted in-form qualifier Elena-Gabriela Ruse in the semi-finals. She won in straight sets to make it four wins in five grass-court outings.
The 29-year-old, who has beaten Osaka twice, has moved up to ninth in the live ranking.
Osaka has strengthened her chances of returning to the top-10 thanks to a strong week in Bad Homburg. The former world number one, who last ranked inside the top 10 five years ago, is up to 14th in the live ranking.
Osaka, who is yet to drop a set this week, defeated Wang Xinyu in the semi-finals. That win allowed her to return to a tour final for the first time in a year.
Osaka has won seven tour crowns, with four being Grand Slam titles. She, however, hasn’t won a title in five years. This is Osaka’s first-ever final outside of hard courts.
