Match four in the first round at the 2025 Darts World Grand Prix at Mattioli Arena will see James Wade taking on Joe Cullen on Monday evening. The Machine is ranked 5th, while the Rockstar is 27th, according to the PDC World Rankings as of the cut-off date. Let’s get into the match prediction!
James Wade returns to the Darts World Grand Prix looking to earn his third title, having previously won this competition back in the 2007 and 2010 editions.
The Machine ended his long ranking-title drought by winning PC19 in Leicester. He reached the final of the World Matchplay and the UK Open, but lost to Luke Littler on both occasions.
Wade lost to Madars Razma in round one of the PC30 last week and has a record of four wins and six defeats in his last 10 matches across all competitions.
Meanwhile, Joe Cullen will be making his 10th appearance at the World Grand Prix this year, following his best showing at the competition last year when he reached the quarter-finals.
The Rockstar has had a mixed year but has notched up two ranking titles at PC5 and, more recently, PC27 last month, where he defeated Gerwyn Price 8-7 in a thrilling final.
However, since that victory against the Iceman, Cullen has suffered early eliminations at the Players Championship. He has lost five of his last seven matches across all competitions.

Our James Wade vs Joe Cullen Prediction
While James Wade has had a fairly quiet year, he has saved his best performances for the biggest stages, as we saw at the World Matchplay and the UK Open, where he reached the finals in both competitions.
Joe Cullen was building up good momentum up to the start of September, but he has experienced a drop off in the past month, and we feel he may struggle to overcome the veteran in this one. Our James Wade vs Joe Cullen prediction is James Wade wins the match.
