We wrap up Pool A at the 2026 European Championships with Italy taking on Slovenia on Thursday evening. Gli Azzurri have been flawless in this competition, and our prediction is that they will come out on top in this group-stage finale.
Italy entered the 2026 EuroVolley as second favourites, and they have certainly not disappointed, having already secured the top spot in Pool A with four consecutive victories.
Perhaps the most impressive part of their showing in this competition is that they have only dropped two sets to this point. They will also have the advantage of playing in front of their home crowd in the next round.
Italy have won eight of their last 10 matches across all competitions, as well as each of their last three against Slovenia, with the most recent victory coming in June at the Nations League.
Meanwhile, Slovenia secured back-to-back wins over Slovakia and Sweden in their first two games of this competition before suffering an against-the-odds defeat to Greece on Monday.
However, they bounced back impressively from that defeat, beating the Czech Republic 3-1 on Wednesday. Nic Mujanovic was the standout performer in that match, scoring 21 points, including 3 blocks.
