The quarter-finals at the 2026 European Championships conclude with Italy facing Finland on Wednesday evening. Gli Azzurri are unbeaten in this year’s EuroVolley, and we are going with them to keep that record intact as our main prediction. 

Italy underlined their credentials as one of the favourites for the title this year by topping Pool A with 14 points and a record of five straight wins, while only dropping four sets. 

Gli Azzurri then delivered a dominant performance to beat Denmark 3-0 in the Round of 16. As a team, they recorded 15 blocks to Denmark’s five and a solid 64% attack efficiency. 

Italy are now on an eight-match win streak and have lost just two of their last 16 matches across all competitions since the start of the 2026 Mediterranean Games. 

Meanwhile, Finland stormed into the knockout rounds by winning their first four games in Pool C. They lost their final group-stage match to Estonia, but had already secured qualification before that encounter. 

The Finns then faced Greece in the last 16 and survived a thrilling five-set battle that lasted over two hours. The Marttila brothers led the team with 21 points apiece, while Joonas Jokela added 20 points. 

Finland have won 12 of their last 15 matches across all competitions but have never beaten Italy in a European Championship clash.
