Inter Miami are looking to start their new MLS season on a high as they play host to New York City FC. Both teams participated in the post season play-offs and will be eyeing the same again this season. Read on for our prediction of this match.

Inter Miami’s season is already underway with Lionel Messi taking the lead. The Argentine scored the only goal in the Champions Cup match against Sporting KC, which they won 1-0.

That win was a lift for Inter after their early elimination in the playoffs. They topped the standings last season but that would count for little as they were toppled by Atlanta in the playoffs.

New York City do not represent an easy challenge to Inter Miami. They haven't lost in this fixture in the last five meetings and the visitors will seek to extend that run.

Most of those meetings ended in draws though. Last season New York City didn’t have the strongest of runs away from home. This will be the basis for all the transformation they need.

Despite this unconvincing away form they went further than Inter Miami in the play-offs. Still, failure to score in four of their last five MLS matches will be a cause for concern going into the new campaign.
