The West Conference giants Golden State Warriors will be hosting their East Conference rivals Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 1 of the 2017 NBA Finals on Thursday. Both sides have been impressive heading to the finals and a fast start is as expected as the two sides’ meet up was anticipated. A general expectation is that Golden State will be the fast starters, gauging from their post season defence to attack performance; they have been better than the Cavs. Cavaliers have allowed on average 103.2 points per game in the postseason, placing a number of questions on their defence while the Warriors have been slightly better, allowing on average 102 points per game in the same period. Offensively, the Warriors still have the edge; they’ve failed to score more than 20 points in the first quarter only once in the post season – in Game 1 of the Western Conference playoffs against San Antonio Spurs. Home advantage and attacking returns will definitely be a factor for Warriors, but the Cavs are also known for their knack. Defensively, they haven’t let in more than 111 points this post season and they will be tough for Warriors. At the same time, Cavs twice hit the 114 mark in the finals last year while Warriors failed to achieve that even once. Warriors head to the game on a run of 10 straight wins and just one loss in the last 10 at home, while Cavs have one loss in their last 10 games and two losses in the last 10 away. Kevon Looney is ruled out for Warriors while Kay Felder and Walter Tavares are out for the Cavs.
