France and Switzerland open their 2026 EuroVolley Pool D campaign in Romania on Thursday afternoon. The Swiss have been very impressive in 2026, and our prediction is that this match will go over the specified points line.
France open the 2026 European Championships as the third-favourite for the title behind Poland and Italy. They finished fourth in 2023, losing the bronze-medal match 3-2 to Slovenia.
The Roosters bounced back incredibly by becoming the first nation to win consecutive gold medals at the 2024 Olympics, but they then failed to reach the final round of the 2026 VNL.
France have been solid since the VNL, though, winning eight of their last 10 competitive matches, including gold against Greece at the Mediterranean Games last month.
Meanwhile, Switzerland made their EuroVolley debut in 2023, qualifying through sporting merit, but they struggled in the main tournament, losing all five matches and bowing out in the group stage.
However, they enter this year’s tournament carrying solid momentum, having won all four of their qualifying matches and five of their six games at the European League in June.
The Swiss have now won eight of their last 10 matches in all competitions. This will be their first competitive matchup against the French.
