And then there were two! The final of the 2026 European Championship will see France taking on Poland in Milan on Saturday evening. The White and Reds are the reigning champions, and our prediction is that they will defend their title in this blockbuster. 

France beat Poland to the gold medal at the Olympic Games in 2024, but since that incredible triumph, they have struggled to beat the world number ones, losing each of their last three encounters. 

The Roosters lost just one match during the group stage in this competition and made light work of Portugal and Romania in the first two rounds of the knockouts before beating Finland 3-1 in the semis. 

Mathis Henno and Theo Faure scored 21 and 20 points, respectively, in the last match and have been the standouts for the team in this competition. France have now won 17 of their last 20 matches. 

Meanwhile, we said at the start of the 2026 EuroVolley that Poland are the team to beat this year, and so far, they have barely put a foot wrong, winning seven of their eight matches in straight sets. 

The White and Reds’ only defeat came against Bulgaria in their final group-stage match, though they had already clinched top spot by then. They’ve beaten Latvia, Germany and Slovenia in the knockout rounds. 

Bartlomiej Boladz is the team’s leading scorer in this competition. Poland have won 24 of their last 25 matches in all competitions and have already beaten France twice this year.
