After advancing in the Copa Libertadores, Flamengo have shifted gears back to the Brazilian Serie A. They are in the lead, four points more than second-placed Cruzeiro, the team they face next. Read on for our prediction of the match.

Flamengo made the most of the last round, as all four sides below them lost. Filipe Luis’ charges slid away with a battling win at Corinthians, coming from behind to win 2-1.

The hosts have a game in hand, and a win here will surely push them ever closer to the league title. At home, they have seven wins in the last 10 matches. Flamengo have also dominated this fixture, winning three of the last four meetings.

Cruzeiro will rue the fact that they come into such a key game off the back of defeat. So much is working against them. They have played a game more than their hosts, who lead them by four points.

In the last 11 meetings between them in Serie A, Cruzeiro has been winless. Heading into this match as well, Cruzeiro fell 2-0 to 12th-placed Vasco da Gama.
