Flamego kicked off their first-ever Club World Cup campaign with a fairly comfortable 2-0 victory over Tunisian outfit ES Tunis on Tuesday night here in Philadelphia.
Against Tunis, Rubro-negro dominated the match from the off, maintaining 69% possession and attempting 11 shots at goal, while completing more than double the number of passes as their opponents (701 to 317).
Mengao are enjoying an excellent domestic season, currently perched atop the Brazilian Serie A standings with 24 points from 11 games (W7 D3 L1). They are level on points with Cruzeiro but have played one game less.

He opened his Club World Cup account against ES Tunis and is almost certain to partner Luiz Araujo, who netted Flamengo’s second goal against Tunis, in support of Pedro in this match.
The Brazilian side's most notable injury concern is that of midfielder Nicolas de la Cruz, who hasn't featured since the middle of May after suffering a knee injury. Flamengo will also be hoping to have ex-Juventus defender Alex Sandro, who has worked his way back into the Brazilian national team, ready for this match after he missed the opener.
