Finland and France will face off in the first semi-final at the 2026 European Championships in Milan on Friday afternoon. The Roosters have won four of their five previous matches against this opponent, and our prediction is that they will progress to the final from this tie. 

Finland have been one of the tournament’s breakthrough stories. Playing their Pool C matches at home in Tampere, they finished second with four wins and one defeat, collecting 11 points. 

The Finns then defeated Greece and Italy 3-2 in the RO16 and quarter-finals, respectively. The Marttila brothers have been crucial to the team in this competition, while Joonas Jokela scored 28 points against Italy. 

Finland have won 17 of their last 20 matches across all competitions dating back to the start of the European League at the beginning of June. 

Meanwhile, France picked up 12 points in Pool D with four wins and one defeat. Their only setback came against host nation Romania after taking a 2-0 lead in Cluj-Napoca.

The Roosters then swept Portugal 3-0 in the Round of 16 before getting their revenge over Romania 3-0. Theo Faure was the standout performer in the last match with 19 points at a 75% attack efficiency. 

France have won 16 of their last 20 matches across all competitions, as well as four of their previous five matches against this opponent.
