Vaduz face an uphill battle to progress in the 2025-26 UEFA Conference League as they host AZ Alkmaar in the third qualifying round. This second-leg match on Thursday at Rheinpark Stadion starts with a 3-0 lead for AZ, and our prediction is an away win with under 4.5 goals.

AZ started in the second qualifying round, where they defeated Ilves 8-4 on aggregate. Vaduz also started in the second qualifying round, where they defeated Dungannon Swifts 3-1 on aggregate. The winner of this two-legged tie will proceed to the playoff round, where the winner of Levski Sofia vs Sabah will be awaiting them.

Vaduz responded to the defeat in the first leg with a 3-0 win in the Swiss Challenge League, but the challenge will be to replicate it in Europe. They will be wary of their previous qualifying round, where they lost the home leg 1-0 to Dungannon.

That defeat remains their only loss in three competitive home games this season, so there’s still some hope to take the game deeper.

AZ continued their impressive scoring record with a 4-1 home win over Groningen at the weekend. That made it three wins and a draw in their last four competitive matches.

They scored 14 goals in this sequence, but with their progression pretty much settled, they may take the foot off the pedal here.
