Matchday five of the Primeira Liga serves up a fascinating clash as champions Sporting Lisbon travel to Famalicao. The hosts are so far the surprise package, unbeaten in four matches and sitting second, a point ahead of Sporting. Read on for our prediction of this match.
Famalicao are not only unbeaten, but they also haven't conceded a goal so far. They only dropped points in their 0-0 draw with Gil Vicente and will be looking to keep this run going.
In this match, though, they will meet top opposition for the first time. The hits could rise to the top with a win or loss and drop as far back as sixth. Before the international break they claimed a 1-0 win away at AFS.
Sporting, on their part, have had a shaky start to the season but will be confident of bouncing back here. They are coming off a first loss in the league, beaten by leaders Porto, and Famalicao took advantage to leap above them.
Sporting also lost earlier against Benfica in the Super Cup, and away fans will start getting worried at the team’s ability to compete. The champions lost a number of players in the summer as a factor of their success last year.
