A massive three points are up for grabs in the Premier League this weekend when Everton play host to Leicester City at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon. These are the two sides directly above the dotted line in the league standings, with the Toffees in 16th place on 23 points, while the Foxes are in 17th with 17 points.

Everton were beaten in their last home match against this opponent back in November 2022, but they have never lost back-to-back league games to the Foxes at Goodison Park. After the reverse fixture ended level (1-1) back in September, Leicester City have now won only one of their last eight Premier League matches against the Toffees (W1 D4 L3).

While 17 of the 35 Premier League matches between these sides have been drawn, the hosts are inserted as clear favourites in the upcoming contest. Let’s take a look at some other important stats at play in this one.

Everton - Leicester: Form Analysis

David Moyes has made a positive start to his second stint as manager of Everton, with the Scotsman having led his side to two wins in his first three matches since replacing Sean Dyche.

The first of those wins came over Tottenham Hotspur (3-2) and that was followed by a disciplined defensive performance to see off Brighton & Hove Albion 1-0 on the road last week.

A victory this weekend would be the first time the Toffees have won three in a row since April 2024!

The hosts will be fairly confident in their chances of earning that record too, as they have been tough to beat at home, conceding only three defeats in their last 10 league games at Goodison (W3 D4 L3).

Meanwhile, Leicester City dragged themselves out of the drop zone last weekend when they added to the woes of Spurs, beating Ange Postecoglou’s side 2-1 on the road.

The Foxes will be hoping that result marks the start of a change in their fortunes, as it followed a dismal seven-match losing streak, during which they conceded two or more goals in each match.

Last week’s victory was also the first Leicester managed on the road since mid-October and just the second they have earned in away games this season (W2 D2 L7).

Everton & Leicester Squad Analysis

Everton’s victory over the Seagulls last week came at a significant cost, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Orel Mangala both forced off at the Amex with injuries.

That leaves the Toffees thin in attacking areas with Armando Broja ruled out with an Achilles problem, Chermiti sidelined with a hamstring strain, and Dwight McNeil still on the mend from a knee injury sustained in December.

Long-term absentee Tim Iroegbunam is only slated to return from an ankle issue by next month and Seamus Coleman is only expected back in a few weeks from a muscle injury.

Iliman Ndiaye has scored in Everton’s last two Premier League games!

Leicester City are also missing several players due to injury, including long-term absentees Harry Souttar (Achilles), Issahaku Fatawu (cruciate ligament) and Ricardo Pereira (hamstring).

Wilfred Ndidi and Mads Hermansen have now missed nine and eight games respectively and will not be a part of the squad for this weekend’s trip to Merseyside.

Our Everton vs Leicester Prediction

While Everton have experienced a new manager bounce under David Moyes, they cannot underestimate Leicester City, who will arrive at Goodison with confidence after that morale-boosting victory over Tottenham Hotspur last week.

The Foxes have been woeful in defence this season, but they have managed to find the back of the net with regularity on the road, only failing to register a goal in two of their 11 away games to date. Therefore, our Everton vs Leicester City prediction is Leicester City over 0.5.

Everton vs Leicester Alternative Predictions

Both teams to score

Odds 1.8

Following on from our main prediction, we fancy the visitors to get a goal here but clean sheets have been a rarity for the Foxes, with only a single shoutout recorded this season. Additionally, nine of Leicester’s 11 away games this term have ended with both teams scoring.
