After finishing third in the European League, Denmark made a disappointing start to their 2026 EuroVolley campaign, losing their opening match 3-0 to Finland on Thursday (25-22, 25-17, 25-20).
Ulrik Bo Dahl was Denmark’s standout performer, scoring 13 points, including a team-high three aces. Oskar Madsen added 10 points, while Rasmus Mikelsons led the team with two blocks.
Denmark have now lost their last three matches following a run of seven wins in a row. They have never beaten their upcoming opponents in a competitive matchup.
Meanwhile, the Netherlands also suffered defeat in their opening match of the European Championship, losing 3-1 to Belgium on Friday afternoon (14-25, 25-18, 17-25, 14-25).
