Fourth seed Daria Kasatkina is through to yet another Charleston Open final and will play the in-form Danielle Collins for the title. This is the fourth career meeting between these two and the second as a championship match. Daria Kasatkina won the title here in 2017. This was the first of six career tour triumphs for the Russian. She will be hoping for the same outcome as she seeks to snap her wanting run in finals. Kasatkina has lost more finals (9) than she has won and at present has lost her last four championship matches. Two of those losses have come this season in Abu Dhabi and Adelaide. The current world number 11 defeated top seed and crowd favourite Jessica Pegula in the semifinals in three sets. Yet to lose on clay this season, Kasatkina has compiled a 16-8 record. The 26-year-old has defeated Collins twice in three meetings with one of her wins coming on clay in Rome.

Danielle Collins is the most in-form player at tour level at the moment. She has compiled a 25-7 record and is currently on a 12-match winning run. This hot streak has led her to back-to-back finals and she will hope the outcome is the same as in Miami a week ago. Collins arrived in Charleston after her title run in Miami where she earned her first career WTA 1000 title. She has rode that momentum and has won four of her five matches here without losing a set. The American defeated third seed Maria Sakakri by the loss of six games in the semifinals. Though she doesn’t have the upper hand in this series with Kasatkina, Collins has the biggest win in their three matchups. The 30-year-old defeated Kasatkina the last time they met, which was in the final in San Jose three seasons ago. This, combined with her current form should have her confident of success here. Collins, who has won three of four tour finals in her career, is now up four places to 18th in the live ranking.
