Matchday 11 in the Brasileiro Serie A season sees third-place Cruzeiro hosting league leaders Palmeiras. Raposa have accumulated 20 points in a strong start to the year and find themselves two points behind Verdao. Here’s our match prediction!

After a shock relegation in 2019, Cruzeiro had to spend three seasons in the Serie B before winning promotion back to the top flight. Now in their third straight season of top flight football following their return in 2022, Cruzeiro look to be putting things together. 

They’ve come out hot out of the gates with six wins and two draws from their first 10 matches. However, a 0-0 home draw to Union in the Copa Libertadores saw them eliminated in the group stage, meaning their full attention will now be domestically.

To their credit, Cruzeiro have strung together a 10-match unbeaten run across all competitions, seven of which ended in victory.

Palmeiras suffered a disappointing 2-0 home loss to Flamengo in their last Serie A fixture, a result which ended a seven-game winning run across all competitions. It also saw Palmeiras have their lead cut to just one point in the standings.

Abel Ferreira’s side would respond strongly though, trouncing Sporting Cristal 6-0 in the Copa Libertadores, confirming Palmeiras perfect 6-0-0 record in the group stage of that competition. They’ve now scored 13 goals in their last five matches overall while conceding just three.
